NFL Coin Toss Streaks: Who's Hot, Who's Not

Data updated daily ยท Regular season & postseason ยท Since 2010

As of 2025 Week 18 ยท Updates after every game

Every NFL team has an active coin toss streak right now โ€” a run of consecutive wins or losses that will end the next time the result goes the other way. These streaks span regular season and playoffs without reset, and they include both opening and overtime tosses, since a toss result is a toss result regardless of when it happens in a game.

Right now the longest active win streak belongs to the Los Angeles Chargers at 5 straight. On the other end, the Denver Broncos have dropped 5 consecutive tosses โ€” both streaks will end the next time those teams play and the coin doesn't cooperate.

How Long Should We Expect a Streak to Last?

For a true 50/50 process, the expected length of any run is 2 โ€” you'll win once and lose once on average, then the direction switches. A streak of 5 has roughly a 3% chance of occurring in any given 5-toss window. A streak of 8+ has less than a 0.4% chance โ€” unusual, but not surprising across 32 teams and 16+ games per season.

What this means practically: any streak you see on this page, however long, is consistent with a fair coin. The team at the top of the win streak table has not "figured something out." The team at the top of the loss streak table is not cursed. Regression to 50% is guaranteed โ€” the only unknown is the timing.

That said, the all-time single-team records are genuinely remarkable and worth knowing. The longest confirmed win and loss streaks in the full dataset are available on the records page.
